A year of strength - paying it forward update

When we launched our recovery box, A Year of Strength we knew it was more than just a box we could sell, given the last few months, it was a box that could do a lot more good to people beyond our reach.

As a way of getting it out there, where it was needed we promised to donate a box for every box sold.

Since the launch in May over 40 boxes have been donated so far. This is in addition to the 10% charity donation we also make for each sale.

Marie Curie UK

The first 20 boxes went out to the team at Marie Curie’s hospice in Bradford. These are to be donated to families dealing with bereavement as part of their after care service.

NHS Frontline staff

Throughout the pandemic the team at Boo Consulting have been offering their services to frontline NHS staff so it was an easy decision to give them 10 boxes to distribute.

Becci and Amy at Boo Consulting worked with us to develop the box, writing the cards and suggesting tracks for the song choices. Having the girls on board was has helped shape the product into what it is. The least we could do was pass on some boxes for them to distribute to people who will benefit from them.

Amy, Business Development Lead for Boo Coaching & Consulting said “we were honoured when Kate asked if we could take a look at their Year of Strength box whilst it was still in development. It was so important to them that they got this right, and we think they’ve done an amazing job. A Year of Dates really do put their heart into their products – we didn’t realise that each box was lovingly put together by hand.

Kate and John have been incredibly generous in offering us the chance to distribute the first 10 boxes, looking forward to giving those out.

We’re also looking forward to making some kind of ‘Year of Boo’ box in the future, so watch this space!”

NHS Employee Wellbeing and Benefits

The next set of boxes is on it’s way to Manchester Royal Infirmary to be given to the Employee Wellbeing team. They will distribute the boxes amongst staff as a pick me up – and I’m not sure who doesn’t deserve this more after the last few months.

We’ll keep you updated as the boxes are given out and feedback on our social channels the responses we get.

If you are a charity, or know an organisation, who would benefit from this we’re keen to do another batch in the new year, to get 2021 off to a more positive start!
