You don't have to leave the house to go on a date

For many couples, dating can feel like one more thing you are expected to fit into your schedule. Whether it’s because you’ve been together forever, you’re on a strict budget or because you have kids and no regular babysitter available. It can be difficult to find time to be romantic and enjoy each other’s company for a change but there is no excuse not to keep dating.

Because dating doesn’t need to always be about going out. Sure, heading out to a restaurant or to see a movie can be a lot of fun, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy spending time at home with your partner as well.

We firmly believe that you don’t have to leave the house to go on a date, so here’s some advice to help you out.

What makes a great date?
In most cases, you’re looking for a good night of laughter, entertainment and intimacy. It’s being together, talking and most importantly, listening.

And not just being in the same room, but interacting with each other and doing something together!

This could include:

  • Great food – Always a winner whether it is delivered to your door or cooked at home, together.
  • Entertainment – This should be an activity that you both enjoy… Harder said than done! This could be as simple snuggling down to watch a movie; or learning a new skill together – find an online tutorial to learn a language or how to make bread (just examples).

  • A chance to chat – The activity needs to give you an opportunity to chat and shouldn’t be something that needs to be done in complete silence… That isn’t a date!
  • Make memories – At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter what you eat, what you do or what you chat about. What matters is that by changing your routine and trying something news you are making memories, even if it is “remember that time we tried to make bread, what a disaster, hahaha!”

The goal of a successful date isn’t to try spend lots of money – it’s about spending quality time together. This is something that can absolutely be achieved on a Wednesday evening wearing your pyjamas after a long day.
