Terms and Conditions of Sale

These Terms & Conditions govern your use of ayearofdates.co.uk (“Site”) and any purchases you make from the Site. The Site is operated by Gifting Sorted Limited (company no. 13716464), Unit 9, Waters Meeting, Britannia Way, Bolton, BL2 2HH (“we”, “us”).

By placing an order, you agree to these Terms.
1) About us
A Year of Dates is a trading name of Gifting Sorted Limited.
2) Ordering & contract
- When you place an order, you’ll receive an email acknowledgement. This confirms we’ve received your order, not that it’s been accepted.
- A contract is formed when we dispatch your items and send a dispatch confirmation email.
- We may refuse or cancel an order (e.g., if a product is unavailable, there’s a pricing error, or we suspect fraud). Any payment taken will be refunded.
3) Prices, taxes & payment
- Prices are shown in GBP and include UK VAT where applicable.
- We take payment at checkout via our selected payment providers. We don’t store full card details.
- We try to ensure prices are correct. If there’s a pricing error, we’ll contact you; you can reconfirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
4) Delivery
- UK orders: we typically use Royal Mail Tracked 48 (unless you choose an alternative). Dispatch is usually within 2 working days of payment; Royal Mail’s delivery aim is ~2 working days after dispatch. These timeframes are estimates, not guarantees.
- You’ll receive a dispatch email with tracking details.
- We ship to the delivery address you provide at checkout. Please check it’s accurate. Once shipped, we can’t change the address. If an order is returned due to an incorrect/incomplete address or non-collection, re-delivery postage is payable by you.
- Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.
5) International delivery
- We use Royal Mail international services or comparable partners. Timings vary by destination and local customs processes. As a guide, 12–16 working days is common but it can take longer.
- Customs/import charges: You are responsible for any local taxes, duties, handling or courier fees applied in your country. We cannot predict or reimburse these fees.
6) Your right to cancel (non-personalised goods)
- For most non-personalised items bought online, you have 14 days from delivery to tell us you want to cancel, then 14 days to return the items.
- We also offer a store policy of returns/exchanges within 20 days of receipt for unopened items in original packaging, with proof of purchase.
- To cancel, email hello@ayearofdates.co.uk with your order number and what you’re returning. You can use any clear statement; (optional) you may use a model form if you prefer.
- Refunds: once we receive the returned items (or acceptable proof of posting), we’ll refund to your original payment method within 14 days.
- Return postage: if the item is not faulty, return postage is paid by you. Original delivery charges are not refunded beyond the basic/cheapest delivery option offered at checkout.

- Please use suitable packaging and a tracked/insured service. You’re responsible for the goods until we receive them. Damaged returns may not be refundable.
8) Exchanges
- If you’d like to swap for a different item, email us first. We’ll process the return as above and send your replacement via our standard shipping once we receive your return. (Further postage may apply.)
9) Personalised items
- Personalised or made-to-order items can’t be cancelled or returned unless faulty. Please check spellings and customisations carefully before confirming.
10) Faulty or not as described
- If an item is faulty, damaged, or not as described, contact us promptly at hello@ayearofdates.co.uk with photos and your order number.
- You’re entitled to remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (repair, replacement or refund, depending on circumstances). We’ll provide a return label where appropriate.
11) Free shipping & re-delivery
- If your order qualified for free shipping, the initial shipment is free. If the parcel is returned to us (e.g., incorrect address or not collected), re-delivery costs are payable by you.
12) Discounts & promotions
- Discount codes must be applied at checkout and can’t be added retrospectively.
- Offers may be withdrawn at any time.
- Only one code may apply per order unless stated otherwise.
13) Events outside our control
We’re not liable for failure to perform or delays caused by events outside our reasonable control (e.g., postal strikes, adverse weather, customs delays). We’ll do our best to minimise any impact.
14) Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights or our liability for death/personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or other liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, our liability for any loss arising from your order is limited to the amount you paid for the order.
15) Intellectual property
All content on the Site (text, images, logos) is owned by or licensed to us. You may not use it without permission.

17) Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
