A weekend away

A weekend away

Well, I love the date jar (and John!) this week!

We had a wonderful weekend in Anglesey, the sun made an appearance and we had a great stay at Driftwood.

Having remembered on route that John is on a stag do next weekend and is requested to wear a flat cap and tweed jacket we stopped off in Bangor on our way for a spot of shopping and lunch.

The sun came out as we arrived and it really felt like spring was on it’s way. We had a nice browse (of the charity shops) and a very filling lunch at the Fat Cat Bistro.

As check in time for the B&B approached we set off for our final stop – via Tesco for snacks, a picnic lunch for the next day and some gossip magazines (for me!).

On arriving in Rhosneigr we were very pleasantly surprised with our accommodation, and the Valentines treats in our room! Before we made ourselves too comfortable I dragged us out for some of the fresh sea air I have been going on about for so long!

Back in the room we made ourselves cosy, it wasn’t the warmest room so cosy was good, enjoyed our homemade biscuits and settled in for the night.

Breakfast was delicious, Rachel and Wendy are fab hosts and you could tell everything was fresh and local. After a chat about the Year of Dates – more praise for John! – we said our goodbyes and headed to Newborough forest and beach for a good walk. It was a stunning day and the views of the mountains were perfect.

Here’s where our day changed. The plan was to head to Rhyl or Conwy after our walk, have a picnic lunch and a play in the arcades, maybe even an ice cream, before heading home to complete this weeks ‘cleaning’ date… We were at the furthest point of our walk when we got a text… Could we be back in Manchester by 2pm to go and see Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights as there were spare tickets?

It was almost 11am (thank you Driftwood early breakfast!) so we turned round, had time for the obligatory ice cream in the car park and had our picnic lunch somewhere on the M56. Arriving in Manchester in perfect timing.

The show was great, and the best bit? When we got home cleaning the apartment wasn’t mentioned, and neither was the possible forfeit… We’ll just keep quiet about that…
